…Rhonda’s blog about anything and everything…
So here’s just a tidbit of information - I originally signed up for a Kimkins membership after the big article in the Women’s Day in summer of ‘07. I tried it for a little while back then, but got sidetracked with birthday parties and cake and willpower… So I dropped it, and just kind of ate whatever I wanted. I figured that this time around, I’d go with the same plan, since I’d already paid for the info… Well, apparently in the year or so since then, it’s come out that the entire “diet” is basically a scam that encourages anorexic type behaviors - definitely not something that I need to be getting into!

That’s just 2 basic links, in case you care. So now I need to find something else, some other set of guidelines for what to eat… I know that if I just leave it to calorie counting or no sugar, I always always fall down the slippery-slope. Atkins worked for me years ago when I tried it, until my docs discovered that it blew my cholesterol levels out of the water (because I apparently have cholestemia and can’t absorb/rid my body of cholesterol, yikes).
Right now I’m reading up on South Beach, and Zone, because I’ve heard both of those come well reccommended… But I’m open to suggestions as well. Bear in mind that I need to avoid sugar, cholesterol, and am mildly hypothyroid.

Hey Rhonda! I like the Zone diet the best because it incorporates a good balance of protein/fats/carbs. Your not eliminating any of them, just creating a balance. Stick with whole grains, fruits/veggies for your carbs, and lean protein, and good oils like olive oil, nuts, fish etc and you’ll do great! That’s what I’m doing. Oh yeah, and trying to cut out sweets and soda. The soda is not so hard but the sweets? Yeah!
