…Rhonda’s blog about anything and everything…

Whoof, well, the last 2 days I’ve been super-tired. I was asked to substitute on another paper route, and of course we all know I can’t say no when someone asks for my help. I wasn’t quite sure why they asked ME to sub for someone, but whatever. Luckily it was a small route…

Of course, I feel like a total nimrod, because I got caught by surprise with this little route! The guy dropped his list of directions a couple days ago, and I just sort of skimmed through it, thinking to myself that it would be easy peasy. Well, yeah, it was easy, but about halfway through the route, it went south of where I THOUGHT it would go, and I started giggling to myself as I found myself delivering papers to a bunch of homes of people in my church! I just keep going along, la de dah, and then it sends me into my own cul-de-sac to deliver a paper to my next door neighbor!

So I parked the car in my driveway and ran in the house for a warmer jacket, then finished the route.

I’m not sure why that amused me so much, but I thought it was pretty funny that my own house was on my paper route. Anyhow, I’m done subbing, because the guy will be back tomorrow, but he gave me enough money that I can treat Matt and I to a dinner date with his brother and sister in law. Woo hoo!

There was more interesting stuff I wanted to post, but my sleepy brain isn’t quite remembering it right now.

Hmm, let’s see, the last couple days Pan has decided to call us by our first names, I think because his teacher at school is “Miss Cheryl” but he says it like “Mi’sherrl” like it’s all one word. He’s been telling us all about “Miss Cheryl said…” about trains (that’s what they learned about this last week). And I know she’s been doing a good job, because my son is now learning to read some small words by sight - before he would spell it out and then sound out each sound, now if he sees “fat” “cat” “flat” he knows them right away! I’m so proud of him, I think he’ll be reading easy picture books by the end of the school year, maybe sooner. He likes to work really hard to please her. He’s also getting better at writing letters - now he can do a W and a T reliably. Some others are still hard for him, but his name comes out pretty recognizable (Though sometimes it looks like it says Woltor).

Tink is still all about princesses, and pink, and of course, Tinkerbell and her fairy friends. Every time we go to the mall, she wants the Disney store, and nothing else. She could probably spend hours there, trying on princess dresses, playing with fairy toys…. oi vey.

Both kids love library story time, and actually Tink has gotten really into doing yoga - the library has 2 Yoga Kids DVDs and she adores them, begs to watch them all the time. The kids are both pretty good at it, too!

Tink knows her alpabet, numbers to 20, shapes, and colors. She knows every princess and princess castle, and can tell you which prince goes with each lady. She loves to help me bake cookies.

Oh yeah! Now I remember what I was going to write about earlier - I’ve noticed the last few nights at dinner, that my kids are still really picky. It’s really hard to get them to taste the main dishes I cook (but usually IF I can get them to taste it, they will eat it all up). But the nights that they are stubborn, and just WILL NOT try the chicken/casserole/noodles, they will ONLY eat their vegetables. And they will eat LOTS of them.

I mean come on, when on earth do you hear “More green beans, please!” from a 4 year old? Or a 2 year old BEGGING for more carrots like her soul depended on those mushy orange blobs?

Weird kids, but hey, at least I don’t have to try and hide veggies in their pancakes…
