Blogalicious
…Rhonda’s blog about anything and everything…
So this weekend was good, but man, do I hate Mondays.
Saturday I actually got a chance to work 3 full hours, because they were letting me work in the photo queue instead of working as admin on the message boards - the last week or so, things had gotten really slow, and I’d gone through and cleared out almost all of the Nigerian fraud.
Then after work, we went out and ran some errands - I spent about 3 or 4 hours working on a poster to teach the kids a new song at church (rebus style, with lots of pictures. Apparently my hands think Jesus looks like Donny Osmond! I’ll post a photo later.)
Sunday was fun, my first time leading the kids’ Music Time. They did a great job learning the first verse of the new song! I’m glad that all the kids can read, so I didn’t have to worry about them mumbling through the lyrics.
But last night, starting around midnight, Peter Pan just WOULD NOT sleep. Every few minutes he would start crying, which quickly turned into shrieking. I got him some Benadryl, since his nose was stuffed and running (since it’s getting springy here, I thought maybe it was his pollen allergies) - no dice. Still crying and screaming, asking where his Daddy was. So I tried putting him in our bed - he just screamed there, right in my ear. I tried walking with him, cuddling him, letting him rest in his room… Finally around 2/3 am my body just gave up and I passed out, so Cpn Hook dropped him off in his room, and he hollered a few more times, but actually went to SLEEP. So I’m surviving on about 4 hours this am…
At 8, I sign in to work. Again, not a lot to do, so I’m on the message boards, when I get a call. From my supervisor. Telling me that since there wasn’t enough work to go around, they had to let me go. Never mind that I had just had a positive annual review like, 2 weeks ago. Never mind that I was the most technically minded person on the team. Never mind (or possibly because?) I was one of the most efficient members of the team.
So that nice job, the one where I could work part time from home, in short shifts, the job that perfectly accommadated my ADD?
Gone. Bu-bye.
She did say that if I kept an eye on their website and re-applied when they had a position open, they’d love to hire me back…
Oh well, life goes on, I have to get the kids dressed for school.

Not fired - “laid off”. It’s much easier on the ego in the end. They’re going to regret that decision pretty soon, though.
Two words for the Pan: GROWING PAINS. I bet if you’d slipped him a baby Tylenol, he would have passed out in about ten to twenty minutes. My kids go through the same thing at this age and giving an analgesic is about the only thing that ensures any sleep at all.
